Artist History Pete Bulka and Steve Dicks form the band Minus-One, who is an up and rising band that is based out of Southern Maryland. Originally starting in January of 1998, Minus-One immediately started to write music based on real life experiences. They knew that this gave the audience a chance to really feel what they are about. They currently have two cd's out. "Bizz Wax" released in 1999, and there newest release "Home Made" released 10/31/01. They hope to continue to increase the loyal following that they have started with their fans, and take their music to new heights. They are committed to providing new music for their loyal fans and hope to reach out to new prospects that will give them a chance to prove themselves in the music business.

Press Reviews -Kat Dickinson of Maryland's Music Monthly 200th Anniversery Issue Review on "Bizz Wax" This review is gonna get metaphysical on your ass. These are some heavy dudes. The cd, Bizz Wax, can rearrange your molecules not to mention the canned goods in your pantry. The songs on the cd are in the vein of the current range of music; the heavy music of Korn or Limp Bizkit. But what makes minus-one stand out from the crowd is there lyrics. The sons presented here and the lyrics contained within are true to life. The primary presented here is the idea of illusion verse reality. Do you remember reading Hamlet in high school? "To be or not tobe, that is the question?" Well, the same issue is explored here, but in a different way. This is evident in the lyrics of "shot down" "...and I know how I want me to be/ you say it loud and clear/ you say it everyday...why is it everytime I try to be myself/ I get shotdown be you." And also in "decide". "...you decide now/ what you want to say/ what you want to be/ in my eyes/ and I don't mind being blinded..." Dont we all do this? Particularly in our personal relationships. And is this concept not almost de riguer in a new love? When we pretent to be what the other person wants out of fear of rejection; and then as we open up and become what we really are, the person dosen't understand the change. Yes the narrator of this journey is a world weary, jaded person who has seen life in the fullest. This is a heavy album. The vocals are full of venom with the pounding drums and the heavily distorted guitars joining in. If Spinal Tap turned up to 11, minus-oneturned up to at least 15. And what is interesting to "Bizz Wax" is that the genre of music is not noted for the lyrical content. But you can't help but listen here, even when as in "thursday" the vocals are being at a deceptively mellow level and then spike to insanity. Also innovated here is the use of multi-rhythym changes and obscure film clips. And, although this is not my type of music, I respect minus-ones' artistic vision.
