Artist History
Artichoke formed in October of 1999, when Timothy Sellers--vocals, guitar--met Ezra Siegel--bass and vocals. A week later Octavius joined them to play guitar and other gizmos. A small flock of drummers came and went until the spring of 2000, when Mark Scanlon joined the band. Over the next 2 years we played about 45 shows around Los Angeles and recorded "Sing in Traffic" and "Evaporation." Mark left the band in early 2002, and Dave Palamaro stepped in. We are currently promoting "Evaporation" and recording some new songs, including band favorites "Emma Goldman," "Half-Dead Madonna," and "Hailstones." It seems that women and weather are never far from our minds.s |

Group Members
Timothy Sellers is an artist (to see his photographs and paintings, visit http:/home.earthlink.net/~figleaves), originally from the Catskills in upstate New York. He writes a few songs a week. Octavius is an esoteric valley boy, born and raised in Canog a Park. His experimental Chewing Foil project, in collaboration with the Subgenius Rev. Mathew A Carey, was featured on KXLU's Demolisten. In the course of recording his solo work, Octavius became interested in playing guitar, which eventually lead to h is current role in Artichoke. Ezra Siegel plays bass, guitar, and frequently adds Beatlish backing vocals to Artichoke. He is an honorary citizen of Brazil, a nation of great natural beauty. Last year, Ezra attempted to document this natural beauty w ith a fine camera I sold him (for a good price, too!), but his canoe capsized in a rainforest swamp, and the camera -- if not the bass player -- was lost. So it goes. Dave Palamaro has been with Artichoke for a few action-packed months now as we record demos of new songs and play at Spaceland, Mr. T's Bowl and on KXLU 88.9FM. |
