Al Murphy was born and raised in Long Beach, Ms. He learned to play guitar cords from his father and a cousin at the age of 10 and learned to play by ear from there. He played and sang for several fund raisers and talent shows in is Jr/Sr year of high school. He graduated from Long Beach High in 1967 and went on to receive his associates degree in Radio/Broadcasting in 1973 from MS Coast Community College, Jeff Davis Campus, Gulfport, Ms. In The 70's 80's he was a top-rated, country music radio disk-jocky for "57-Country, WVMI, Biloxi" and "A.M.-1240, Great Country Music, WGCM, Gulfport" For years he's played various club gigs and festivals along the Mississippi coast - either as part of a band or as a solo performer, and continues to do so whenever the opportunity presents itself.
