Artist History Basically Welsh Rabbit just wants to rock. However, they don't sound like most of the stuff you hear on "Rock" stations these days. That could be because their musical knowledge goes back further than Pearl Jam, Alice and Chains, and Metallica. With influences such as the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Big Star, The Stones, Blur, Weezer and assorted little known New Wave and Power Pop bands, Welsh Rabbit manages to sound like little else around, yet suspiciously familiar at the same time. And they wear ties on stage. What else do you need?They are pretty damn good, for a band you probably haven’t heard of yet. That will change soon though: Welsh Rabbit started off playing parties and the Buzz Coffee House, but have graduated to playing at the Wow Hall, the Wild Duck and John Henry's (Eugene’s premier rock clubs), each time to increasing hordes of rabid fans. Or are they just increasingly rabid? Either way they like the Rabbit! Welsh Rabbit has also just completed their first California Tour playing at the UC Santa Cruz campus, Club Boomerang and the Cocodrie. They also have an album, West 11th Love Letter and are currently working on their second album. The Rabbit has played with Deathray, Special Goodness, Drive, The American Girls, Groove Juice Special, Gabriel Blue, Stuck In a Groove, and the Courtesy Clerks. So give the CD a spin, and give Welsh Rabbit a chance. You won't regret it!
