Artist History
Since its birth, the blues has always been synonymous with pain, longing, and spiritual depression. However, blues music is not exclusively an expression of grief and sorrow. Over the years, the blues has evolved immensely and it now the expresses feelings from the entire emotional spectrum; indeed, the genre has an equal ability to inspire a sense of melancholy, happiness, and everything in between. In fact, it is precisely the adaptability of the blues that has enabled it to inspire listeners and musicians alike for the past hundred years. The blues is the thread from which the vast quilt of today's music is weaved and, certainly, within all great music, a trace of the blues can be found. Shades of Blue began as a blues group and, although they have since progressed into the realm of popular rock stylings, their bluesy musical roots have not been neglected. In nearly every song, whether through the vocals, guitars, or overall musical feel, the blues makes its presence. However, to the average listener, Shades of Blue doesn't immediately reflect a strong scent of the blues. And truly, to say that Shades of Blue is a simple blues band would be haphazard; it would be describing only the tip of a vast musical iceberg. Their sound encompasses a slew of musical influences; from the Beatles to The Dave Matthews Band, a host of different rock groups from many different ages are audibly present within their refreshing new sound. |

Group Members
At the helm, singer Lindsay Leaver carries the band with her fluid vocal melodies. Her voice breathes versatility and, according to the music's direction, she can whisper with the soft inflection of a nightingale or shout with the power and passion of rock's most legendary vocalists. Leaver's melodic genius and magnetic stage presence have already carried the band to dizzying heights and her amazing talent will no doubt bring Shades of Blue to music's highest pinnacle of success. Lead guitarist Rob Morris is almost the second singer for Shades of Blue. His blistering blues licks and awe-inspiring lead lines speak with an unbelievable musicality and, although still very young, his ability rivals that of guitar's most canonical players. Morris also directs his musical prowess to the art of songwriting and is one of the band's leading lyric and music writers. On bass, Sebastian Beer drives the rhythm for Shades of Blue. His bass lines combine a plethora of musical styles and his technique is at once tasteful and stunning. In addition to his musical virtuosity, Beer has a simple, innate ear for music and, during practice and live performance; he effectively guides the band in its proper musical directions. Drummer Vitaly Golomb has inspired percussionists for years and his vast musical talent adds a distinct flavor to the grooves of Shades of Blue. Golomb is also one of the band's head musical directors and he organizes the group into a tight, well-honed musical super group. In 1999, Shades of Blue lost their pianist Tomas Ponce to the great state of Arizona. Although his well-regarded musical genius was impossible to replace, Shades of Blue has since gained a new member whose presence has markedly enhanced the band's sound and entire musical flavor. On acoustic rhythm guitar, Tim Jones adds a rich flavor to the timbre of the band. His tone, musical proficiency, and astounding songwriting abilities have taken Shades of Blue to extraordinary new levels. The band's five members have awed audiences nationwide and they continue to gain acclaim at every live performance they undertake. Recently, Shades of Blue has left the club scene in order to pursue wider audiences and greater exposure. They have achieved great popularity at various Californian music festivals and their listeners are consistently impressed with the intriguing new talent that is Shades of Blue. |
