Artist History
came together in August of 1994. After the first rehearsal it was clear they had finally found the perfect musical combination they had all been dreaming of. They put themselves on a rigorous rehearsal schedule, and the Joey Shaker sound began to take shape. In January of 1996 the band hit the studio to record the 11 songs they had spent over a year crafting and performing. Holed up in their own studio, the band self-produced their first album, "The Word of Power," releasing it in July of 1996. During the months mixing and mastering the album, the band focused intense concentration on their live show. Utilizing props, video feeds, and dramatic performances, Joey Shaker's live concerts grew into the Broadway-like performances they have become today, providing the perfect backdrop to their tight and powerful musical outpouring. In 1998, the band headed for the studio again to capture the 10 songs that would become their second album, "Mankind." They spent nearly a year producing, recording, and mixing the songs, and the time and dedication shine through on every sparkling track. "Mankind" is a cohesive musical showcase of a band able to consistently deliver strong compositions in a variety of styles, moods, and textures. The first single from the album, "Hocus Pocus," is a slick and slinky funk rock tune with a manic twist. The new millennium has found Joey Shaker branching out in yet another musical direction. The band is currently mixing and mastering an acoustic album, which finds Pete and Sean changing instruments. The 14 song "No Distortion," features Pete's 12 string acoustic playing as well as some beautiful piano and organ overdubs. "No Distortion" should be completed by the end of August, and the band will again the tread the live trail in support of their new release. The four members that make up Joey Shaker have a bond that goes well beyond their common desire to make great music - they're the best of friends. Whatever the future holds for them one thing is sure - Joey Shaker will keep writing, performing and recording powerful, moving compositions that will keep their fans shaking in their seats. |
