Press Reviews
Any band that akes itself seiously at all should give this tape a listen.Youdont hear "HOSTILE BRIDGE" grimacing or dreaming of a fat record deal here. The group sounds utterly relaxed as it dances around the cliches on everything from pretty pop to roaring hardcore. The "BRIDGE" gets earnestly sensitive on "Lonely Dancer" and hystericlally thrashy on "I love my girl friend" (sung by: Brian Brannon of JFA) picking out precise grooves without forcing the electicism. "HOSTILE BRIDGE" dares to be different, and even better pulls it off without an attitude.-DAVID KOENPHX NEWTIMES MAGIZINE---------------------------JUST PLAIN HOSTILE"spanning a a space somewhere in time between James Chance and the contortions -apres-funk and the linear atonality of the bush tetras, Hostile Bridge carves it's own picture of funkified avant-damage and manages to stay in focus with it despite somewhat busy sing arrangements. At least half of these cuts are woth more than just a listen here."Mr HIP" punches out a visceral funk back beat while a graoning phycotropedelic guitar line wrestles its war a round well timed horn perforations. The band's obvious signature tune "Hostility Dance"shows off the ability of this trio to rock right the fuck out. While over on "Lonely Dancer" the band pensively mulls over the pain of single life.Though the sound is still inits nascent stages , it's apparent "Hostile Bridge"is well versed and equally rehearsed in connecting together parts of rock, pop, and hard funk into a seamless and occasionaly danceablewhole. With minimumwork, future "HostileBridge"releases should prove to be a real "BOOTAY BURNER"-JUDGE L-RANKINPHX NEWTIMES MAGIZINE-----------------------------------"The Aquantince" is a funky bass, hook rocker with a runaway clash chorus, which can be rather typical of this band at times when needed . It's the kind of ska meets clash sound that makes this band fit in with a certain likeable feel and comfort. "Geta rubber cuts straight to the pie about safe sex and with todays kids this should be played in classroomes every where and hopefully to be dubbed in many other languages. This song is my fave and i am looking out for more from this trio with areana size sounds.-author unknownDe Pressed Internation magizinebox 2806, Trollet stationDetroit, MIfax 313-581-1628-----------------------------When it comes to bands with serious chops for days "HOSTILE BRIDGE"defintely know how to weld there axe's. In and around the phoenix metropolitan area "HOSTILE BRIDGE" is respected by all who have seem them play as a tastefull band whith skills to thrill As a band collectively "HOSTILE BRIDGE" has logged p[lenty of road, studio and time touring across the the continental United States. The band's precision playing is augmented by there strong stage presence which sets them apart from there scarecrow contemperaries.Whether its playing straght ahead rock and roll, down right dity funk, heart felt love balledsor screaming guitars "HOSTILE BRIDGE"is a versitile band with so much talent that no matter how many different ways they go they will never spread themselfs to thin. The bands latest shows both the expession of there musical abilities and the turbulent emotions wich issue forth from the lyrics to there songs. An alternative hard groove anthem called the "The Aquantince" begins the disc to a double-time beat with lyrics that portray the poetic significance of every day life the beyond basic bass aproach is showcased in the oh so tender "Lonely Dancer" and "Under the Brooding Solitude," while the punk rock love songs "I Love my Girlfriend"and "Geta Rubber" rveal the bands inner fellings with a no - hold - barred attitude. As an independent bant in a sea of lesser players, "HOSTILE BRIDGE" is looking to find the right management and publishing company to look out for there best interests in the hope of securing a future recording contract. The bands talents and abilities guarentt that "HOSTILE BRIDGE" can and will succeed commercially where others fail. They dont have to pose they know the real deal.-author unknownTHRASHER MAGIZINE |
