Artist History
ABOUT THE BAND:Globus was formed in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in April of 1991 under the name “Big Daddy”. After only one month of practice and three demo tapes, they gained remarkable popularity in Sarajevo. At that time, they recorded four videos in production of two major TV stations. The popularity rose as they were given more and more air time on all of the Sarajevo’s TV and radio stations, which reflected in numbers of visitors on their concerts. The band stopped working in April of 1992 when the war broke out.Two years after the war had started, fed up with everything that was happening in Sarajevo, the band started with work again, but only briefly. Three months, a couple of recording sessions and five concerts later, they decided to leave their home city. The band unofficially fell apart, since all four members went to different parts of the world. The band regrouped in Chicago in February of 1997 with the name “Globus”.ABOUT THEIR MUSIC:With dynamically balanced powerful wall of sound and combining several musical directions (funk, hard-core, pop, techno, metal, etc.) the band came up with originally made music. Using synthetic dance texture (no use of electronic equipment) with a light touch of Balkans charm, shouted out, occasionally high pitch vocals, songs are driving you through unpredictably composed poetical landscape of life. |

Press Reviews
COMENTS:…Globus is for the moment one of Chicago's better-kept secrets… typical Globus performance combines the power of classic Stooges and Bad Brains with the driving insistence of modern electronic dance music…Michael Helke, Stop Smiling Magazine…metaphorical breath of fresh air…Angie Mead, Songwriter/Performer…Globus exists in that beautiful space of exchange, Bosnian as much as American, playing powerful hybrid songs that can not be deduced to their influences, but the songs that carry in themselves Sarajevo and Rage Against the Machine and Bad Brains and KUK and Obala (popular Sarajevo’s night clubs) and hanging out in summer gardens and war and what have you…Alexander Hemon, Writer/Journalist (Dani Magazine).…man, all those chicks dancing!!!…Unknown concert attendee |
