    Artist History
The members of Farafinh came together in the Fall of 1994. They all grew up in West Africaand were playing various gigs. They approched lead singer Kush (also featured on MP3.com at www.MP3.com/Kush)Who was already enjoying moderate success as a Reggae singer. Moon the drummer had accompanied a string of local stars, Steven was mainly playing keyboard and singing in clubs. Samba Barry (who passed away in 1999) had the most impressive resume. He had toured with the famous Ensemble Koteba from Mali to Japan and had entertained people in the Subway in Paris for years with his fouta flute. The flute is made of reed wood and makes the most original sound sometimes sounding like an animal. It is abondantlyused on this album. Yaya Sangare is one of the best Djembe player Ivory Coast has ever known and is famous for his callous hands.Herve on bass is the "Cool guy" and play the sweetest bass lines from Reggae to Jazz. Maurice Diekou had been playing saxophone in the military.Renee Tahou (Moon's brother) had always played percussion with his brother. After rehearsing for nine month, Farafinh registered for the contest Rockin' 95 which they won after competing against 25 other bands. The prize was the recording of the album Doney Doney (Little by little in Bambara). It was recorded with other guest musicians like Freddie Assogba on guitar in Abidjan and mixed in Switzerland.Today, Farafinh disbanded, Kush went on and persued his carreer as a solo singer and now lives in the US, other members like Moon, Herve and Yaya play gigs in Europe. Samba's flute was silenced forever when he died from an illness in his native Guinea. It is a privilege to be able to hear this gem which marveled so many musician in Africa and Europe.
