Artist History
Erika Ebbel is 19 years old. She began studying music at age 5. At age 7, she won her first piano competition. After studying piano privately for 4 years with Sumi Nagasawa she was accepted into the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She studied there for 9 years with Dr. William Wellborn. Among the awards she has received in music are: 1st Place, Northern California Junior Bach Competition (1998) 4th Place, State of California Beethoven Competition (1998) 3rd Place, Bay Area Concerto Orchestra Competition (1998) 1st Place, Bay Area Humanities Festival (1997) 1st Place, Music Teacher’s Association Competition (1997) 1st Place, Stanford Young Artists competition (1997)She has performed in numerous master classes with pianists such as Adam Wibrowski and Scott McBride Smith and was invited in 1998 and 1999 to participate in the Chopin Festival in Saint-Malo, France.She graduated cum laud from high school and is continuing her music studies at MIT with Timothy McFarland under the Emerson Music Scholarship Program. |
