Music Style Hip-Hop

Artist History When I was 15 I felt the power of Hip Hop in my life. Not for the first time, but for the most important time. It shaped me. I used to go out and rack up spraycans to get famous for it, sneak out to house parties to feel it in my veins. It was a mysterious force, that drove me to investigate with a passion. I was intrigued by every aspect, and decided to dedicate my life to it.Ten years passed, as I assessed the money making potential vs. the high risk factors involved in this now highly evolved sub-culture. I ended up in the curious situation of signing a major record deal as a dj/turntablist of a live band, and realized the learning lesson of my Hip Hop conquest was just beginning. I found myself in a battle for respect, which appeared reminiscent of the movies Wild Style, or Krush Groove. It seemed as though Hip Hop was meant to be a struggle to rise like cream, and I always knew it was supposed to be."Industry rule number four-thousand and eighty: Record company people are shady." - Q-TIP (Tribe Called Quest)Turns out Q-TIP forgot to mention band members...but GURU didn't."I never thought that you would grab me, undermine me, and backstab me/ but I can see clearly now the rain is gone, the pain is gone, but what you did was still wrong." - GURU (Gangstarr)No need to say more than that, and to reiterate the fact that I became a soloist by 1998. After unpacking my bags, I found out I could make my own CD without the help of a record company. This collaboration left me thirsting to write and produce more, not to mention getting up on stage rockin live shows, which not surprisingly became an addiction from past experiences.By the summer of '99 I had two new experiences which have since become monumental in my progress. 1. The release of my lil' homie ROCKO who had been confined in prison, which led to the formation of THE CHOSEN.2. My inauguration to the powerful young band HYDROVIBE. These are the focuses of my mission at this point in time, and I plan to carry out my mission to the fullest. Simple as that......
