    Artist History
02/22/02: It is almost midnight here in the Cave Studios as Duc-Key, DeCiancio, and myself, MPD, are putting the final touches to our first CD "The Journey Begins". Pure adrenalin must be coarsing through all our veins as we await the completion of the master copy. I was going to save my bottle of champaigne for the CD Release party but I couldn't resist popping the cork for this momentous occasion. No bottle of Crystale could taste as sweet as this seven dollar bottle of Ballatore spiked with the taste of victory! I mean victory because we overcame the hand of God or the clutches of the Devil to complete this CD after several computer crashes and viruses. We been through a lot over so many years. It's hard to think that this all started more than six years ago... 1995: Duc-Key moved into a new house and found a new friend living next door to him, his name was Fletcher. Now these two were crazy hip-hop fans, blaring the music that dominates today and sporting the camo gear in the cold Ohio weather. Upon listening to a new CD Fletch had called "Boot Camp Cliq", he wanted to start his own crew, and the name of that crew was "Army Camp Cartel". The first members were Fletcher, Duc-Key, and Hillbilly. They would innitiate themselves into the ACC by carving the symbol of ACC onto their body. Just some Crazy Ohio Boys. 1996-1998: This was the time that music was becoming more of a passion. Duc-Key would make mix tapes along with the Sicc Assassin. I remember these times with a laugh and a smile, perhaps a bit of a tear. Sicc Assassin would pick us all up in his van and we'd bump the mix tapes cruising around town and the country backroads drinking liqour and smoking the funk. I also can't forget the highjinx of camping with a case of 40oz St. Ides. Now in school Duc-Key, Hillbilly, and Sicc Assassin would rap nonstop. After school they'd record some Wu-Tang beats on the new computer and put the day's flows to them. For a while they'd bust instrumentals hooking up the mic to the computer and tape what came out. Then things got a little more creative as Duc-Key would reverse beats on some music editing software. This was the beginning of Duc's Producing talent. And all the while the group would write and rhyme in school and people began to notice. Then a drum machine was purchased along with a synth. Duc-Key found beat making quite simple and a lot of fun. Many classics were made on tapes. 1999-2001: Now music began to get more and more serious without losing its fun side. More of the crew began to get on with the Army Camp Cartel. From Tae-Loc to Sneed to Vinny D, more got on the mic as well as getting on the keys and turntables. A website was built to showcase what we were up to in the Cave. B-Dubb and Duc-Key would mess around with the turntables and I would begin to hit keys for the freestyle sets. Still tapes were made and would end up in the hands of the Admiral. After listening to these tapes the Admiral was hooked and wanted to jump on the mic and was encouraged by Duc-Key. Then more often the crew would stop through the Cave to spit lyrics they wrote. Some CD's would be burned with songs that were recently made and would end up being played at parties. To go from a major artist to ACC "The Next Level" and get people hype and on their feet is something! With that said it was on everybody's mind,...let's make a CD! Not just a CD with one take songs on it but a CD made of blood, sweat, and tears. So in late 2001 production began for "The Journey Begins". Through computer crashes to obtaining the talents of J-Skratch and a name change to Another Certified Connection, the outlook for the completion of the CD was a virtual roller coaster ride of ups and downs. Maybe 2002 would bring us a CD. 01/01/02-NOW: Indeed the new year brought ACC a CD, but of course a couple more computer crashes. We were close to calling ACC "Another Computer Crashes"! But the producer we know and love called Duc-Key strived through the obstacles of megabytes and insomnia to bring to the public "The Journey Begins". We first thought that 100 cd's might be a lot to push but it ended up being too little. Shit, we even hear of people going as far as to dubbing our CD! Now I personally find it flattering that someone would risk legal prosecution just to have our copywrited music! If that isn't a sincere form of flattery I don't know what is. In these times we kept positive in adversity and set a goal that we exceeded. We are realistic and know that we may never hit mainstream. Ha! Who gives a shit, we're just having fun doing what we love and making people happy with something we created! Some may want to critisize and be disrespectful, but were's your CD at hater? Don't be mad because I can physically hold my dream in the palm of my hand. ACC history doesn't end here, so keep coming back, ACC Family CD:Part 2 is coming soon!
