Artist History After attending a retail panel at SXSW, Plan 9 Music owner Jim Bland realized the necessity of providing a distribution outlet for local artists, many of whom were already consigning their products through Plan 9. Refining his idea to include production and promotion, Planetary Records was born in May 1997 with the release of Janet Martin's "Cloud Cover." Still in our infancy, we are prepared to grow with our artists.
