Artist description
"We began to transcend,
like a ghost in the wind,
when day and night seem
frozen, trapped in time
until Day's End"... The
huge chorus from Exit
22's single "Day's End"
provides the perfect
backdrop for this hot new
Acoustic/Power/Pop/Rock
band from Fairfield,
Connecticut. A powerful
female vocalist, a lead
violin player and strong
songwriting have enabled
Exit 22 to break ground in the market and create a
buzz with their universal
lyrical content and artful
musical imagery.
Exit 22 has set out to
combine well-structured
songwriting with an array
of instrumentation to
create the perfect
backdrop for Maggie
Reinhart's strong vocal
presence. With a sound
similar to that of "Pat
Benatar meets the Goo
Goo Dolls" and "Joan Jett meets Matchbox Twenty",
the band provides radio-friendly
melodies, but with
more mature lyrics that are
universally identifiable.
The band's debut release,
entitled "Trapped In Time"
carries 12 tracks, which
include a broad range of
melodies, great production
and killer performances; it
features the noteworthy
singles "Stop", "Day's End"
and "Follow Me Up". |

Artist History
In early 2000, Exit 22 was
still the sign off the I-95
highway that led to
Fairfield University - there
was no band, no girl, no
violin - just a few notes
that inspired what became
everything the members
of this off-beat group had
been hoping to find during
their college years... a
reason to play.
After guitarist Chris
Calamera gave a rough
copy of "Day's End" to
Maggie, who at the time
was playing keyboard and
doing background vocals
for the Fairfield cover
band "Awkward Silence"
with him, the project was
born. That first demo couldn't
have sounded any more different than what it has
evolved into, but Maggie
could hear the diamond in
the rough.
"That's my song", she
said. "You don't know it
yet, but you wrote that
song for me to sing."
The song became a part
of Awkward Silence's
play-list and was
eventually performed for a
full house at Fairfield
University's Kelley
Theatre. The positive
response from the
audience left the band
members no choice but to
produce a record together.
With three music majors
and one jazz minor in the group, Exit 22 has gained an
immense knowledge of music
theory, with traces of their roots
found in each member’s
performance on the record. The
orchestration, melodies and
overall song structures feature
ideas that span modern-day pop
radio to ideas found in the early
days of jazz and classical
performance (most notably in
Mike Capriotti's searing violin
leads).
Exit 22's first single, "Day's End"
was a huge hit on mp3.com
(creeping up to #6 on the
acoustic charts), creating a solid
foundation for the band and
ultimately earning the song a
spot in the recent
independent film release "Dance
By Design" (released by the
Dudley Film Company - Boston,
Massachusetts). |
