Group Members
Felix Erickxson (DJ PhatMan), Singer, Rapper, Re mixer, Recording engineer and Producer, grew up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in U.S., South Bronx, New York. Emerging from a musical family he was introduce to music at an early age, in his school years he was able to participate in a variety of music programs learning to play a variety of instruments. His brake into the music business wasn’t until he reached his 13th birthday falling in love with the art of mixing became a DJ, at the same time started writing his first songs. However his love for music took him to another level and started his studies at Hunter College and Center for the Media Arts in New York City, upon graduation he worked for some of the most prestigious recording studios in the NYC area. Like other members in 809, he had the idea of combining the sounds of the traditional Merengue with the pumping beats of house music the bouncing rhythms of reggae and the lyrically delivery of rhymes in Hip-Hop to create 809. Thomas E. Jimenez (T.J.), at an early age felt passion for music, acting and dancing, he was 15 when he started rapping and writing songs while growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to 809, he was a member of a few other groups that help him polish his craft as an artist. As a kid in the Dominican Republic, he joined a pop rock band called “Los Capris” performing in various events as headliners, “Mix Match” a Miami Hip Hop Band, although his main focus was music he dance for a couple of freestyle groups like “Voices” and “Coro” in New York City.To master his talent he study acting and dancing at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. With his parents support he was able to be feature in a “Mc Donald” TV Commercial campaign as well as Aunt Jemima Pancakes TV Commercial campaign. Thanks to his dancing ability was able to participate in the “Earth Wind & Fire Show” in Madison Square garden and Lincoln Center. Martin Rodriguez Jr. (El Caballero), the youngest of the trio, to him singing was a dream until brought aboard 809. Born and pretty much raised in the Dominican Republic, at 14th moved to New Jersey where he joined his church chorus later on moved again this time to Miami where his interest and Spanish rap skills where developed and joined 809. |
