Artist description
These are pieces I've written for some of the projects I've been involved in recently. I've been lucky to have the chance to write, play, engineer and produce with some great musicians from Edinburgh, Manchester and London in the last few years. In March I won the BBC Radio 2 Big Band Soloist of the Year award while playing with the Salford Big Band. Unfortunately I can't post the winning recording here as I don't own the copyright (Pat Metheny does). As well as jazz compositions there's a couple of oddities here which may surprise. I'm intending to do more oddities as soon as I get the chance... |

Artist History
The Marooned Sailors first embarked on an expedition to find the true meaning of Collective Individualism at the end of the last century and lost their good ship Jazz somewhere between the sargasso sea of Latin Fusion and the bermuda triangle of European Contemporary. They play a blend of jazz/fusion compositions, free group improvisation and modern arrangements written by myself and cornetist Steve Chadwick. Their line-up is truelly european with musicians coming from as far apart as Norway and Spain. Their music focuses on exploring the aural textures available to three horns, guitar, bass and drums. The Jazz Biscuits were a quartet in London who were awarded a grant to record the album these tracks come off. Officially the Jazz Biscuits don't exist any longer, but we still gig together from time to time. |
