Artist description
Indie rock group suzie35 showcases the bracing vocals and hauntingly introspective songwriting of Kimberly Hall. With the aid of a powerful backing band, the singer/guitarist displays a dazzling breadth of range and style that belies her youth. suzie35 has been an instant local success, but seems destined for much more. Still in its infancy, the band has already headlined at Baltimore's most significant venues, including the Recher Theatre (capacity 800) and the Thirteenth Floor (capacity 600). Sums up Hall, "We're off to a great start, but I know that there are bigger rooms awaiting us, and bigger plans for this band." Most observers get the distinct feeling that shes right. |

Artist History
Hall began this new project after spending two years in Eden's Poets, one of the mid-Atlantic's most popular club bands. According to Hall, "My time with Eden's Poets was a period of tremendous creative growth. But I knew that I had more to offer, and that I had to branch out." Beginning in mid-1999, Hall embarked on a personal and creative journey that by years end had produced an impressive catalog of nearly fifty songs. On the strength of her material, Hall had little trouble attracting the best local musicians to the project. According to bassist Freddie Louden, "Kim's songs spoke to me and moved me instantly! I listened to a rough demo and knew immediately that I would play in Kim's band." With that, suzie35 had acquired Baltimore's most popular bassist, and an outstanding backing vocalist.Drummer Aaron Bertoglio felt strongly enough about the music to step away from his acclaimed regional alt-rock group, Drumfish, and joined without hesitation. A smoking set player, Bertoglio is also a schooled and accomplished percussionist, adding texture to songs with congas and various "toys."Newly acquired guitarist Rennie Grant joins the band after eight successful years with regional favorite, Colouring Lesson. He brings to the band versatility as a guitarist and producer/engineer. Kim, Aaron, and Freddie performed as a trio for nine months. Rennie fulfilled the bands belief that waiting patiently would yield the right match. |
