    Press Reviews
" Kevin Hufnagel is a talented guitarist. The title track is the only one which is focused on dynamic/technical guitar playing. The other two, 'before sleep' being the most remarkable, are more of an atmospheric ambient mood... A fine demo tape." Edge of Time Issue 12 " This three song demo was submitted by guitarist Kevin Hufnagel and I'm happy he saw fit to sendit in our direction. The music on this tape is strictly solo guitar in the vein of a William Ackerman or a Michael Hedges, but with a distinctly more melancholic sound. I had the pleasure of firsthearing this demo at about 5 am and the light of the new day was breaking over the windowsill, a perfect accompaniment for the subtle intricacies of this music. My favorite track takes up the entire second side and is entitled 'before sleep.' This lush, hypnotic tune is made up of beautiful textures and layer upon layer of guitar lines woven together creating a sonic painting." -Carpe Noctum Vol. 4 Issue 2" Kevin Hufnagel of the amazing grey division blue, presents a solo effort with a demo entitled 'while I wait.' This cassette consists entirely of guitar. The acoustic guitar has a really clear, crisp sound to it. Kevin certainly brings out a lot of emotion through the 3 tracks presented. There is no need for other instruments here, as his creative songwriting and instrumental abilities make each song sound full with a distinct ambient quality." 5 out of 5 -Curse of the Chains Vol. 3 " Kevin Hufnagel is a talented musician! This isn't a side project of no regard. It holds true skill andI doubt you'll hear many underground guitarists who hold a candle to the acoustic theatrics presented here. Passages go from beautiful, sweet moods to speedily strummed chordal climaxes. The sound quality on this tape is CD worthy and the amber-like tones fill your rooms with positive energy. This is perfect for grey, rainy days to relax with but also has enough going on to warrant more attentive concentration." -Tomorrow's Symphonies Feb. 98 "A collection of stark, dynamic, moody solo guitar pieces. The opening acoustic guitar piece, 'while iwait' exhibits a bit of Kevin's classical guitar influence, although it veers into a more dynamic rhythmic strum at the end that is somewhat reminiscent of Michael Hedges' 'Breakfast in the Fields.' 'glass prison' is a beautifully picked, melancholy song which, like the first song, also has tempo and dynamic changes. The piece de resistance is the extremely evocative 'before sleep' which opens with beautifully layered acoustic guitar strums and ambient electric guitar notes before slowly opening into some very moody acoustic guitar arpeggios layered with spacious, sustaining electric guitar lines that sometimes recombine harmonically. The song is dynamic, spacious, desolate, and quite hypnotic. Although Kevin has quite a bit of dexterity on his instrument, he still chooses to use his technique with restraint and good taste, which is quite refreshing. The recording is high quality and think aboutit- it's only three bucks for you to get really good music, support an independent artist, and buildgreat karma-all simultaneously! How can you lose?" -Ken Lee {Eleven Shadows Music Reviews] also of Hyperium recording artist Eleven Shadows" Wonderful...intimate guitar works of extreme beauty...Kevin is focusing on a kind of melodic, technical, and dreamy sound made of marvelous arpeggios, well-performed scales, sweet-sounding harmonics and involving chords. In the third episode he also approaches lush and hypnotic dark soundscapes in Lycia's ambiance style...Get this very nice little work..." -D.L.K 'ZINE Issue #4 Jan. 98 " Kevin's style is pretty unique, weaving deftly executed quick melodies into heavily textured pieces with adventurous tonality and dynamics. The third song 'before sleep' reminds me of 'Time Long Past' by Fates Warning, with haunting acoustic arpeggios and melodies played with a very Robert Fripp-like buzzing tone...A very cool new acoustic artist." -Williams Music Reviews "Very different from what i'm used to recieving, which is a good thing...all very well played and intricate in structure...Kevin's a gifted guitar player and there's no doubt he could accomplish whatever he sets his mind on." -Underground Zine Scene Issue #10
