Artist History
Who hasn't heard the tragic story of little Jimmy Johnstone, and his now eponymous dying words, "Can Wallpaper Pie come out and play?" Using that rich and multi-layered tragedy as its original recipe, WP Pie started in the summer of 1995. It's been simmering in the underrated Tacoma music scene for years now, and finally hit upon just the right mixture of funky ingredients. The pie is slowly becoming recognized as one of the most delicious musical fixtures south of Seattle. |

Group Members
Our stellar vocalist is Lance Kagey. We all love to listen to Lance sing. Check us out live and you may hear him skat like a cool daddy-o on our cover of "King of the Swingers." Steve Grace is the guy strumming and picking on an old Fender Strat and an even older Gibson acoustic. Give Short Double Latté a listen to get an idea just how talented this Pieman really is. Brendan Connelly is the man on the drums. The youngest member of the band, Brendan is probably the best musician in Pie's kitchen. Aside from wailing on drums like some sort of Keith Moon/Buddy Rich concoction, he also plays saxophone and piano. Our bass thumper is Tom Llewellyn. When he's not smacking out some funk, Tom is probably writing more lyrics or shaking out some spoken word. By the way, these songs also feature some tasty acoustic guitar help from Harry Howard Hanson. |

Instruments
Circa 1930s Gibson acoustic, Fender Strat, Taylor Acoustic, Washburn Acoustic, Peavy Foundation, Profex, Zoom 505, Pearl drums, Zildjian Cymbals (of course), and a little wooden box. In our shows, we also hand out lots of funky percussion instruments to the audience. These may include maracas and cowbells and one of those drums in Karate Kid II. We keep the little wooden box for ourselves. |
