Artist description
Tadd Russo (b. 1976) recently completed his Masters degree in composition at The Ohio State University. In 2000, he served as The OSU School of Music composer-in-residence, composing for the symphony orchestra. Russo has worked extensively with the OSU Department of Theatre and the Department of Dance, creating scores for plays and for dance productions. He received an OSU College of the Arts grant to compose music for The Cherry Orchard and The Memorandum. Russo has also received commissions from Berea Summer Theatre, Grandparents Living Theatre, and Columbus Children’s Theatre. His music has been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the N.O.W. New Music Festival at Capital University, and the OCEAn festival at the Oberlin Conservatory.
Russo has been commissioned to create works ranging from electro-acoustic to orchestral, including chamber music and music for solo instruments. He has also composed works for solo voice, children’s choir, and SATB choir. Several of his compositions for voice incorporate the writings of American author Edgar Allan Poe, including The Sleeper, for soloists, chorus, organ, and chamber orchestra. He currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
