Artist description
"We don't really care if our music stirs anybody. This is for us. We do this for ourselves. It's just a coincidence that other people like what we're doing too."
Sickle's attitude could possibly be seen as selfish when you look at other bands who say "its all for the fans", but if you go to a Sickle show you won't see many people complaining. The crowd is always into the music and into the show, so there must be some sort of silent connection between the audience and the band.
The sound Sickle produces is energetic and powerful at times, and soft and flowing at others. With the instruments locking together in tight percussive passages, the music sounds almost reminiscent of a more natural sounding Fear Factory, but when they stray apart into multiple synchronized patterns they may conjure up memories of a heavier version of Tool. These sounds that Sickle creates have been collected and put to demo disks and sold or handed out at Sickle performances, where new fans always seem to emerge.
Sickle is based out of Central California, where a small but strong music scene is gaining momentum. The band seems to capture quite a bit of attention among show-goers in the Central Valley as well as metal fans across the country who visit the Sickle website.
With their ethic of making music for themselves, Sickle shows no signs of slowing anytime in the near future. "We can't promise to stay true to a certain sound, because if we get tired of it one day we may end up doing something totally different. Just so long as it's still heavy." |
