    Artist History
With a passion for electronic music and the musical inspiration of Jean-michel Jarre and Mark Shreeve, Lee & Ben formed in 1988 with one aim to compose and perform electronic music. In 1990 they began to study music at Friesland Secondary School, Nottingham, UK. Guided by the enthusiasm and skill of music teacher Shaun Collins they spent their time covering music basics whilst in their own time covering Jarre's music aswell as learning the art of composition. In 1991 the lads were approaching their last year at school and so they decided they should begin to compose an electronic album of their own. Using the skills they had learned in the classroom they spent six months putting together an electronic musical experience. Using just an Amiga computer, Sequencer One software, a Yamaha SY85 and a four track studio they made "Future". The music on this album had a very raw feel to it with many of the drum tracks added by hand rather the traditional sequenced method. This album laid down the foundations and highlighted their ability to compose and perform. The next few years saw Ben & Lee put the music to one side. This gave them time to finish college & university studies whilst Ben had the time to follow his sporting hobbies. In 1997 Lee decided on a diverse musical change. He joined a rock band. This change allowed Lee to gain some valuable experience playing live. "Skeleton Crue" took to the road throughut 1998 & 1999 performing at a number of venues around the UK. Meanwhile Ben was spending most of his time on skates representing his country at the European and World Championships throughout the late 1990's.In the summer of 2000 Ben & Lee decided to work together again. This time under the project name "Negative:One". The next few months saw a hive of activity producing quality songs such as the techno anthem "Soixante Neuf", the Portishead inspired "Take me to your Heart", club classic "Weekend Blues and more recently Negative:One have began to collaborate with some vocalists. SOIXANTE NEUF:Very nice dance/techno song with hmm, maybe french (?) vocals. pretty dark and phat, try it out! has some VERY nice bubbly trance effects with echo!On TAKE ME TO YOUR HEART:An exotic, erotic trance love journey. A beautiful trip into soulful rhythms, pads, and sweet lyricism (The Wayfarer project). MORE REVIEWS:Excellent tunes! "FUTURE" has a great drive and the voice samples fit in extremely well!"69" is indeed a piece with a nice infectious beat and a superb melodic flow..awesome breaks as well!"TAKE ME TO YOUR HEART" is an evocative composition that shows diverse musicalinterests and a wide range of sounds, excellent!"MOVE IT RIGHT" is a definite possibility for placing very well in the charts! Acid house with a real good pop/soul hook to it! RARE! "4 AM" has a delightful almost 'foreign film noir' atmosphere to it that's VERY engaging! Then when it breaks into the almost oriental style instrumentationwhile still keeping the original feel, but adding a danceable beat brilliant!(Ankou Technica)
