Artist description
Ambient and Illbient soundscapes; world fusion with organic beats. Inkstone is Simran's solo and collaboration work. He creates environmental loop-based ambient sound environments, sometimes venturing into the rhythmic and even (gasp) the lyrical. Inkstone's work is similar to an ambient DJ, but with all the loops and sounds being created live. Inkstone often works in collaboration with other artists, and likes to play for projected video or avant garde dance pieces. Current collaborations include working with vocal percussionist Andrew Chaikin, and at BurningMan 2000, with Opera singer Dan Gurvich. |

Artist History
Simran started making videos of his artwork (see thevideos link) and soon realized that he wanted his own music on the soundtracks. From there he followed his geek muse, putting together a bunch of processing and looping gear. All that stuff, combined with interesting sound sources such as didgeridoo, throat singing, hissing, coughing, and various homemade and store-bought instruments resulted in Inkstone's sound. |
