Artist description
Funk Squad is a 4-piece funk/fusion band from Albany, NY. Drummer Joe Rocco and bassist John Haag drop the greasy foundation for guitarist Joe Watrous and keyboardist Pete Rocco's harmonies and improvisational experiments. Their sound ranges from solid, thick funk to jazz fusion and beyond, from tight ensemble playing to free explorations by all members. |

Artist History
Pete Rocco, Joe Watrous, and John Haag were members of the illustrious John Haag Quartet before that band went on hiatus on August, 1999. Joe Rocco, a veteran of 30+ years in music and also a current member of Out Of Control, decided that the time was right for a side project, and Funk Squad was born. While drawing on some classic material from the John Haag Quartet's repertoire, Funk Squad is continuing in the tradition of funky, improvisitional music that appeals to many genres. |
