Artist description
This is a four-piece band from Santiago, Chile (South America). We play songs in spanish that have a comic, acute and examinatingappproach to issues of contemporary life.Hopefully we will record a few songs in english soon, since we've been writing some lyrics in english too.We don't have our official album out yet, but the demo is pretty good.We preffer not to classify ourselves in a musical category for two reasons:1. We make music and so we think that it is a journalist's or critic's job to make categories.2. Each song could fit in a different category, so it's pretty complex to fit our songs in some sort of box. Think of Phish or Zappa, bands that can play styles according to moods or topics. We also make some instrumentals which are really cool. Onstage we always leave some time for a not-too-long jam. Please Listen, we love to be heard. |

Artist History
Ábrete Gandul! was conceived, by Doctor Octava and after a few failed attempts at working with other musicians, the band started when drummer Antonio Arceu and bass player Pablo García joined to record an album of originals. The band didn't have a name yet. The name of the band was the result of a brainstorming session, and we played live as Ábrete Gandul! for the first time in August 2000. the band had some members changing with time, but has reached a more stable formation now.Hopefully the name will change no more. |
