    Artist description
Christopher Oberst makes instrumental, guitar-centered rock/jazz recordings at his home studio in Northern Virginia. Christopher's music runs the gamut from heavy metal to fusion-jazz to music that defies explanation. Thankfully, Christopher doesn't sing on his original material. Even though he is a guitarist by nature, Christopher also lays down the bass and keyboard tracks on his recordings, as well as programming/playing the percussion. Although many of Christopher's early recordings are "not ready for prime time," in recent years Christopher has recorded material that he likes enough to make available to the public. The first batch of music on this site will cover the years 1991-98. Newer digitally recorded music will follow shortly. Warning: Christopher's music is not recommended for pseudo-serious rock critics or others for whom loud, note-intensive guitar playing induces nausea or other health problems. Christopher's music should not be consumed by pregnant women, those who may become pregnant, or anyone with a family history of mental illness. Prolonged exposure to Christopher's music can lead to irreversible musical consequences, such as understanding odd rhythms, appreciating 'alternative' musical modes, and a general disgust with the music industry.

    Artist History
As a young guitar-playing metalhead, Christopher Oberst saw an advertisement for primitive home-recording equipment in a music magazine. His life has never been the same since. Although Christopher has played live gigs in the past, mainly to small rooms full of drunks, he has directed most of his musical energy into being an anti-social home studio wonk making non-commercial instrumental music. Christopher has long realized that there is no place in the "music industry" for such a person. Accordingly, he makes his living in the publishing industry. Thanks to the Internet, Christopher can now make his recordings available to the sort of odd folks who might wish to hear strange, loud instrumental music.

None released yet. Most of Christopher's newer material might end up on a mp.3.com D.A.M. cd (or maybe you will just download it all for free, he hasn't decided yet). However, there will soon be enough of Christopher's older material on this site that you can download a bunch and burn your own cd or two of Christopher's music. Whatever makes you happy...
    Press Reviews
None, but some of Christopher's friends say they like his music.
