Artist History The creative force behind R&B band SHAI returns after a nearly five year hiatus with his debut solo effort, aptly entitled "The Resurrection". After writing the RIAA-certified gold singles "Comforter", "Baby I'm Yours", "The Place Where You Belong", and the multiplatinum classic "If I Ever Fall In Love", Carl Martin toured with the band he co-founded for four years. Afterward, he needed a break. "I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I knew I needed some time away to rejuvenate my love for music." He found it in the theater. Martin enrolled in the reknown American Conservatory Theater (Denzel Washington/Winona Ryder)in San Francisco to study acting. "That was the best thing for me at the time.
