Artist description
Tommy Wood was born and raised in Ruckersville, Virginia. His love for country music emerged at the age of 10 from listening to his mother’s Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn records. He learned how to play drums in school, and during his senior year, Tommy joined a country band. After a year, he formed his own band, singing lead vocals from behind the drums. At 23, Tommy emerged from behind the drums, rhythm guitar in hand, singing stronger than ever. Tommy’s credits include winning the 15th annual True Value Jimmy Dean Showdown sponsored by WLSA radio in Louisa, Virginia. Tommy and his band were featured at Country Fest ’97. Inspired by meeting headliner Tracy Byrd there, from that day on Tommy knew he had to pursue his dream of becoming a country music singer. Since then, Tommy has opened for David Lee Murphy, Wade Hayes and is scheduled to open for Ty Herndon on September 17, 2000. Tommy is currently working on his 2nd CD. DeWayne Phillips, who has worked with George Jones, will be producing Tommy's CD in Nashville TN. Look for updates on his web page. |
