Artist description
Maybe it’s the energy, and the dedication to heart-felt southern pop/rock and roll that make The Dead River Band so unique. Infact, it might even be their open-minded “down-home” integrity and wisdom that has gone into every track of their latest self-produced release Pictures In The Sand. The CD features 9 Songs, 3 Band Members, and a boatload of blood sweat and tears. All of which, make Pictures In The Sand a promising fresh look on a familiar style of music. |

Artist History
In 1995, Michael Baker the bands lead singer/executive producer teamed up with lead guitarist/co-producer Carmelo Licata to form Boston’s first and only all acoustic classic rock cover band called Anthology. The band sported a wide variety of acoustic instruments from a djembe to 6-foot bass fiddle and successfully toured local clubs and venues throughout New England playing such hits as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Take It Easy” from the Eagles. In late September of 1997 Anthology’s play list took on a new twist. In an effort to keep a fresh interest among the recurring audience as well as the band members, Mike and Carmelo began to blend original music set with their wide entourage of classic hits. The idea was a great success! Infact many of the audience members were admittedly not able to distinguish the original set from the covers. This made the two realize they were headed in the right direction. In July of 1999, Anthology disbanded, but the efforts of Mike and Carmelo continued and in September of that same year, they met their would be drummer Sean Muise. Sean’s diverse jazz influence (reminiscent of such greats as Billy Cobham Dave Weckyl and buddy rich) combined with his solid rock back beat made him the perfect compliment to already stylish works of Baker and Licata. Due to a lack of available musicians in the area, the three agreed to continue their efforts as a trio and hire additional musicians only as needed. In November of 1999 the line-up of The Dead River Band was official and the three began work on recording their debut release Pictures In The Sand. |
