Artist History
Randy was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Despite his southern origins, however, Randy has spent most of his adult life in and around New York City. He lives with his wife Patty in East Hampton, New York.Randy plays acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass and sings. He studied music at New York University and the Juilliard School. Randy has a bachelor of Arts degree from New York University.Randy completed Hugh Prestwood’s Advanced Songwriting Workshop at New York’s Guitar Study Center. He has also completed the Songwriter’s Workshop with Henry Gaffney and Jeff Franzel at the American Society of Popular Music’s Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and Shirley Washington’s Urban Music Workshop at the songwriter’s Guild, all in New York.Randy has performed his own songs at various clubs in Boston and New York including the former Folk City, the Bitter End in New York, and the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY. He has also appeared in concert at Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York. Randy accompanied Hugh Prestwood, singer and songwriter, on bass, including opening for singer Crystal Gale. Randy’s songs have been played on college and commercial radio in New York and New England. Randy and his publishing company, Lily Hill Music, are affiliated with ASCAP. His song “Maybe I’m Running Away” was featured in ASCAP’s Song to Song Showcase in New York in March of 1998 |
