Artist description In late '99 the future members of Inside Five Minutes were surrounded by a vast amount of fashion savvy, derivative, wannabe, musicians. Each held a hearty desire to collectively organize a group grounded in songwriting and musicianship. Inside Five Minutes arose as a vehicle for them to put this desire into practice. Maturing musically in the early to mid '90s underground and mainstream music scenes, each member played in different local band incarnations, with some earning their chops touring the United $tates. As prior attempts failed, the timing was right for a band built on a foundation of musicianship and punk rock ethics... The result was countless numbers of blown tubes, ripped drumheads, and PA systems they still don't know how to work.

Artist History After two years worth of gritty, relentless live shows in support of their 2000 release, Stately Chaos Home, Inside Five Minutes decided to withdraw from the public eye; playing only sporadic dates around Detroit and at the much acclaimed MichiganFest 2002, which was documented and nationally release on DVD. During that time, the band crafted what would become "Seven Song EP," a body of work that shows the band refining the throbbing tones of their early days and evolving into a band of songwriters. Songs like "Warm Blooded" and "Negativity Got Me Down" take the band's knowledge of full blown guitar rock and exhibit it in a state of maturity, while tracks like "The Native" hint at IFM's upbringing on Dischord Records bands like Fugazi and Hoover. Slow-burning numbers like "At Night" and "Limetree Murder" prove that the group is equally comfortable with their volume knobs down, using space and patience to accentuate the music. Comparisons of the new material to a mix of late 70's-era Neil Young and Crazy Horse meets 90's-DC punk abound, and in many ways IFM is the perfect cross-section of vintage rock songwriting and indie/punk sensibility. Well known as a Detroit favorite and hailed by both Real Detroit Weekly and the Metrotimes as one of the best new music acts in recent years, Inside Five Minutes has made a name for themselves by performing with the likes of: International Noise Conspiracy, the Murder City Devils, Hot Water Music, the Constantines, Rye Coalition, Rival Schools, Cutthroats 9, the Hot Snakes, Tight Bros From Way Back When, Cherry Valance, the Burning Brides, and many more. Their 2002 split 7" with the Tight Bros From Way Back When tided their audience over during the making of the EP. If their coming-out March 2003 show at the now infamous Magick Stick in Detroit (at which they performed a set of exclusively new material to a capacity crowd) is any indication, Seven Song EP should meet a level of anticipation that rivals many of their garage-obsessed peers. The rest of 2003 will see IFM once again embracing the road in support of the EP, as well as working on material for a full-length album. The band has the rare talent of being able to win over indie, punk, and rock and roll fans alike, and to do so with a ferocity that is uniquely Detroitian.
