Artist History The GUTTER QUEENS call themselves ROCK SLUTS and are probably the most exciting and spectacular Band to come out of Switzerland. They're ready to conquer the world with lots of Charme, Make-up, High Heels, Feather Boas, Glitz and Glamour and are the «New Definition of GLAM ROCK». With a Sound reminding of the good old days when ROCK'N'ROLL was a LIFESTYLE, they create a fresh, high energetic and unique mix of 70s GLAM, 80s SLEAZE and a scent of PUNK ROCK. Once you've got the pleasure to see them perform, you know that they give it all on stage – a wild show topped with glamtastic outfits, an in-your-face attitude and a great sound. The Band has a fantastic Media Presence including several TV Appearances, Radio Shows and Radio Interviews and got often compared to bands like the STOOGES, HANOI ROCKS, BORED! and of course the NEW YORK DOLLS, which are one of their all time Faves. But also MÖTLEY CRÜE, TURBONEGRO and GUNS N'ROSES count to their Influences. Originally founded in Spring 1992 in Schaffhausen – although they're now based in Zürich – the Band released two Demos: In 1995 the Tape ROCKAHOLE – under their old Band Name JUVENILE CRIME – and in Fall 1997 the CD BORN TO BE CHEAP. Both releases have sold-out in a short time. In August 2000 they recorded four Songs at the professional ARTAG Studio in Zürich with Co-Producer and Engineer VOCO FAUXPAS (Celtic Frost, Young Gods, Tremponem Pal and many more). The first official release is a beautiful pink 7" Single on Sheep Records – an Indie from their Hometown. It came out in October 2000 with two tracks: TEENAGE WASTELAND vs. GET GLAMED WITH ROCK'N'ROLL. The second Release on the same Label is the kick-ass rockin' 4-Track CD HOT IN HOLLYWOOD. Tracklist: HOT IN HOLLYWOOD, GET GLAMED WITH ROCK'N'ROLL, TEENAGE WASTELAND and SUFFRAGETTE CITY (Bowie-Cover). The CD RELEASE PARTY was in early August 2001 – presented by the POPKREDIT of Zürich under the direct Authority of the City's Minister. It was a great Honour for the GUTTER QUEENS, not many Bands get this Approval and generated even a bigger popularity for the band. Besides touring on a regular basis the Band has a lot of Energy and is making great plans for 2002. It definitely will be a massive GUTTER QUEENS-Year. By Spring they want to record their FIRST FULL-LENGTH and are busy writing new Songs or updating the current Stuff. A Pre-Production will be made soon with their Live-Engineer and Ex-Drummer RONCO LA ROCCA. A professional VIDEO CLIP is as well in progress, which should be ready by Spring 2002 and sent out to various national and international TV-Channels for Broadcasting. The Song for the Clip is yet not chosen. The GUTTER QUEENS give their Fans the Opportunity to Vote for their fave Title by Internet. Also a lot of worldwide Managements, Labels and Bookers show big Interest in the Band. Those contacts led to various contributions to Compilations – for instance the infamous «A FISTFUL OF ROCK'N'ROLL» Series, initiated by SAL CANZONIERI of Electric Frankenstein. The band will be on Volume 13 among collegues as TOILET BOYS, BLACK HALOS, LAZY COWGIRLS (Victory Records USA / End 2001). The GUTTER QUEENS contributed songs for a JOEY RAMONE-TRIBUTE or the ROCK'N'ROLL WAR Vol. 3. Their Songs are also very welcome as Soundtracks to Extreme Sport-Videos (Moto Cross or Biking) in the USA. A special Event will be the FIRST UK-RELEASE by CHANGESONE. The british Label was overwealmed by the Band and decided to release a SPLIT-EP in February called HOT IN EUROPE 2002. Everywhere the GUTTER QUEENS climb up a Stage the Audience loves them dearly and deeply and they have a fast growing Fan Base. They attract a lot of People and fill even big Venues. As happened at the Auditorium Flog in Firenze (Italy) where over 1.500 crazed Teenagers showed up to see them as the only Band that night! Germany and Switzerland can compete with that – they all love the sleaszy GLAM SLUT ROCK of the GUTTER QUEENS. Legendary Highlights were also the Headliner Slots at the «Rockweek» at the ROTE FABRIK in Zürich in January 2000 or at the 25th Festival in Bienna in January 2001. As a matter of fact the crowd in Bienna loved the Band that much, that they got booked as the Headliner for the 26th Festival. Now they want to conquer Europe. Group Members * JIM JUVENILE (vocals & blues harp) is a founding Member and played in several Punk Rock Bands such as the BITCH BOYS. They released a handful of Demos and toured excessively through Germany and Eastern Europe. He’s the drop-dead gorgeous Singer, whose wild and furious Stage Presence will never be forgotten, once you've had the pleasure to see him perform. * ZYGI THE WILD ONE (guitar & backing vocals) founded the Band after a longer Stay in Australia and is responsible for most of the Songwriting. He used to play with the infamous 60's Garage Band the HITCHHIKERS, who had quite legendary gigs with the RAMONES or the CYNICS. He's a tough Rocker in real life but as soon as he hits the Stage he turns into a mean Prom-Queen. * SARAH MEPHÏSTA MEMPHÏS (guitar & backing vocals) joined in Spring 1999 as the rhythm guitarist. She once founded the allgirl '77 Punk Rock Band SUBURBIAN FLÖWERS of whom Jello Biafra claimed they're the best allgirl Outfit in Switzerland. This breathtaking Beauty sure knows how to Rock. * ELVIRA TARANTELLA (drums) grabbed the drumsticks also in Spring 1999. She used to play amongst other Bands in the allgirl Combo ANANDA'S DECADENZ, who had excessive touring around Switzerland and Europe. She's already known as the Wonder Woman on Drums. * CALMO SIDEBURN (bass) gained live Experience by sowing his wild oats in different Party Bands and became a Gutter Queen in the beginning of 2000. He's the one Teenagers save their teddy bears for. Nothing can stop this heart-robbing Boy from playing great Glam Slut Rock.
