    Artist description
Three ideas that best describe Atari Champ’s sound and songwriting are energy, creativity, and diversity. Instead of repeating a “hook” dozens of times in their music, Atari Champ, instead, likes to surprise the listener with arrangements that wouldn’t be expected. Paul Chesterton totally believes that people out there want more interesting, distinctive music than the bland, trivial music that seems to dominate commercial radio.

    Artist History
Atari Champ started with a couple songs written by singer/guitarist Paul Chesterton in the summer of 1999. Paul liked the songs enough to record a two song demo on his own with his friend, engineer Eric Peters. When bassist Jason Robbins heard the songs, he was hooked and joined up. Paul recruited his cousin Mike Morris to handle the other guitar duties needed to get the sound in Paul's head. After a short stint with another singer, Paul took over the vocal duties. Since he had only been singing for a short time, Paul has been working hard to get his vocals up to par and has done so very well. Needing a drummer, the three members turned to Jason's cousin Robert Faria. With the four members, Atari Champ has begun to refine their sound and recorded their first release, a 6 song EP titled "There Were Times." After switching drummers (Chris Friesen now plays the drums), Atari Champ is trying to play a lot of shows and prepare to record their first full length album.
