Artist description
RasClaat is not groundbreaking. RasClaat is not going to change the face of music as you know it. RasClaat is not something to shake your ass to... RasClaat IS a five piece hardcore/thrash metal band from Charleston, West Virginia. Consisting of Mike "JinxDog" Gillenwater on vocals, Rusty Williams and Jason Bays on guitar, Jonathon "Beans" Bradley on bass, and Steve Carpenter on drums. They formed in October of 1999 and have progressed continually to present.
RasClaat combines stomping rythms and pummeling vocal assault reminiscent of Hatebreed, Meshuggah, and Slipknot. A straight-forward attitude coupled with a "non-flashy", combative stage show has put RasClaat at the forefront of the Charleston area music scene. Packing nearly every venue they have played locally, it's no wonder they have been asked to share the stage with nationally known bands such as Karma to Burn, Hatebreed, and Vision of Disorder.
Having appeared on ESPN2 Xtreme Sports during their show at the Skatopia Bowl Bash, and recieving praises such as :
Bridging Metal Generation Gaps
This is pretty sick! The song just bridged at least three metal "sub-categories"....sounded like it'd be an A Perfect Circle style mood-metal song at the beginning, then the guitar kicked in heavier.... and then boom, it's Pantera-esque music (even with some Dimebag soundin' guitar squeals thrown in) with vocals like Phil Anselmo and the singers from System of a Down and Hatebreed all got together and were really pissed about something. *L* It's great, maybe something to save people from the rap-metal craze.
- Garageband.com
As of press time, local metal act Rasclaat (www.rasclaatmusic.com) is set to open for TVT recording artists Vision of Disorder at the Empire Club June 20. The band boasts a “fast and ferocious” sound, and its first release, Applied Aggression, is available now through its Web site. Rasclaat is currently writing material for a follow-up.
- Graffiti Magazine
Although RasClaat is a fairly young band, they have captured the attention of many, and have developed a huge following in doing so. A young band with a very bright future.
