Artist History
The group began as an off-shoot of the music ministry of Spartanburg Community Church in S.C., where the group’s founders, Lori and David Guthrie, serve on the music team. There, they met the church’s band leader, Steve Keeter, who has become their writing partner. The result is an exciting, fresh sound. Kerusso sings songs about real life, real pain and the very real love of a God who is there for us even when we fall. “We aren’t here to try to show people how perfect or spotless we are,” says David Guthrie. “We’re human and have made mistakes like everyone. The good news is that Jesus loves us in spite of ourselves and He’s just waiting to show us what true mercy and grace are if we’ll come to Him.” The release of Kerusso’s self-titled, debut CD marks the beginning of a ministry aimed at meeting people where they are. Kerusso’s ministry is about reaching out to hurting people both inside and outside the walls of the church. It’s their desire to show people that no matter where they are, they are never out of God’s grip. |
