Artist description
It is difficult to imagine a more unlikely set of suburban kids than Fischer, Lee and Jason to be found in a hip-hop group. First, they all hail from Salt Lake City, Utah, a city widely recognized for a huge, salty lake; fantastic skiing and snowboarding; and Mormons . However, none of those things have much to do with music, other than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, whose first hip-hop album is still years away. Additionally, with influences such as Weird Al Yankovic, Madonna and The Smiths, one would assume the members of FurtherMore lean more toward L.L. Bean than LL Cool J. However, all appearances and assumptions aside, these guys can rhyme. |

Artist History
FurtherMore began when Fischer, who had been in the Salt Lake hip-hop scene for several years with a variety of bands, decided to strike out on his own. He went looking for others who would share his idea that a band can be talented, yet humble and make great music without all the ego and negativity present in much of hip-hop today. Toward that end, Fischer recruited Jason as DJ and, with his uncanny powers of persuasion, convinced the reluctant Lee to join as the female vocalist.FurtherMore has been able to establish themselves and also has been able to develop a loyal following. Despite a small local hip-hop scene, FurtherMore was granted great opportunities when they had the pleasure of being the local opening act for De La Soul and Run DMC. And in 1998, they were included in the line up of the Salt Lake City date of the Vans Warp Tour.FurtherMore was signed to Tooth and Nail Records in 1999 and has been reviewed as one of the best bands that the label has released in years. FurtherMore is quickly developing a strong national and international following. The CD reveals FurtherMore's assortment of non hip-hop influences and showcases their positive ideas. The title track plays like "License to Ill" era Beastie Boys, while sugary, ethereal waves of sound highlight "Another Dimension". ?Are You the Walrus" brings a full symphony along for the ride. Their diverse influences meld together to form a melodic canvas of both old school and progressive sounds on which Fischer, Jason and Lee paint their rhymes. Many were reluctant when Tooth and Nail announced the signing of FurtherMOre, only to be enthusiastically surprised upon hearing the finished product. They are now hailing the label?s genius. FurtherMore is slowly achieving its goal proving that positivity in hip-hop can sell and with nary a dirty word uttered on the whole album, Fischer, Lee and Jason have gone a long way to prove that FurtherMore, like milk, does a body good. |
