Artist description
The Young brothers grew up in Maryland and began playing music as teenagers. Tim and John later moved to Pennsylvania, while Paul remained in the Washington,D.C. area.By the 1980's,each brother was playing a second instrument,in addition to the guitar. For John,it was the bass.Tim-banjo.And Paul-mandolin.
In the 1950's, they heard country music and bluegrass played side by side on the radio, and saw it performed that way on JIMMY DEAN's "Town and Country Jamboree" television show out of Washington, D.C.
Later favorites, such as THE DILLARDS and the DESERT ROSE BAND, played country infused with a bluegrass style, which was to be a prime influence on the sound of the Young Brothers.
Their CD, a collection of traditional and original songs and tunes, plus one each from OLA BELLE REED and PETER ROWAN, shows both their early country roots and their love for straight bluegrass.
