Artist History
"I began singing and writing music as teenager in my home base of Los Angeles. After graduating from Santa Monica High School, I moved to Maui, Hawaii to pursue the sport of windsurfing. I had become very close to the family that actually was responsible for putting windsurfing in to history, and moved to Hawaii to pursue the sport in a greater way. Within a couple of years, I was competing in professional events and was traveling around the world extensively. My whole life was consumed with where the wind was blowing and where I was going to windsurf that day. During eight years of competing, the desire to write songs was still growing within me, but I was very busy competing. After reaching a world class level in the sport, God started to direct my steps into more ministry related things, and the main one being music. During the summer of 1992, I went to YWAM (Youth With A Mission) on a European music/mission outreach. Musicians came from all over the world to the YWAM base in Montana, and we formed bands that would go out for the whole summer to different countries. My band "The Invitation" traveled to Eastern Europe where we had concerts in parks, city centers, concert halls, or wherever we could. "It was the most moving experience of my life, watching people come forward to receive Christ during the concerts." After that summer, I came home with more of an intense desire to touch people's lives through music. I believe that through my experience in Europe, God opened my eyes to see His heart for the lost in a whole new way. The challenge at that point was what I would decide to do in response to that call. One of my first songs, "Whisper To My Spirit" was inspired while I was riding a train in Tokyo. In 1993, I went on an Eastern European music tour with YWAM(Youth For A Mission). Our band traveled to three different countries, Holland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. We performed concerts in city centers, churches, and concert halls. "It was the most moving experience in my life watching people touched by the healing words of the songs." That summer inspired me more than I ever would have dreamed. Not only did I come back with new vision, but I also decided to get married to my wonderful husband, Chris. I went through many mountain tops and valleys in the whole process. God was teaching me how to turn to Him at every point, and to trust Him. I kept remembering that it was the process that was important, and that through it all I was learning more about God and myself. It took almost two years to complete. One of the wonderful delays was that I had a baby in the midst of it all. I remember recording my ninth song in my ninth month and thinking, "Am I ever going to finish?" I did finish it four months after my son, Cade was born. That was the summer of 1998. Two years, and many performances later I find myself continually inspired to write more songs and to share the true meaning on Christ through this ministry. I am currently working on my second CD, and excited to share it with all of you when its done in the Fall of 2000. |
