Artist History
Greensboro groovesters Folkswaggin' have been a mainstay in the North Carolina music scene for the past five years. After presenting a number of line-ups during that time, the group has settled into a four piece representing the funkiest incarnation yet. Founding member David McCraken has served a number of roles in the band starting out as the percussion maestro, adding the keyboards to that and eventually dropping the percussion to pursue his current obsession and critically praised ability on the Hammond organ. Shane Lee joined the band in 1997 to fill the vocal and lead eclectric guitar slots. Known for dabbling with a mandolin on occassion with the rarely seen Folkswaggin' String Band, Shane brings a bluegrass influence to the funkified jams. Steve Clark is the foundation on which this band funkily stands. An accomplished bassist with a number of successful musical projects to his credit, Steve skillfully drives the improvisational and jam oriented space of the Folkswaggin' sound. Louis Bryant is the most recent addition to Folkswaggin'. Fresh from Bag of Nickels, Louis' drumming brings yet another strong influence to the band. Altogether, this four piece jams, weaves, and funkifies the soul. Whether your folks-a-waggin or folks on the waggin', you're going to get down with the Folkswaggin' ride. |

Press Reviews
The Indy file-…Dope smoking, patchouli smellin' tree hugging post Jerry crusties…file under Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic and Allman Brothers…++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++FAZE 3 MAG. GREENVILLE NC –LIVE REVIEW – THE NAME COULD NOT BE MORE APPROPRIATTE BECAUSE THAT'’S EXACTLY WHAT EVERY SINGLE ASS IN PEASANTS WAS DOING THAT NIGHT, WAGGIN’…… It was like being in room full of happy puppies as the crowd responded in force to the cool groove of this Greensboro quartet. A funky groove , smooth and ultra melodic guitar work, and a singer that most vocalists would kill for never fails to please….. with sounds reminiscent of the Allman brothers, the grateful dead and just about all of the homegrown bands, these guys were able to deliver their brand of funky rock that was devoid of the cliches that many bands of their ilk are guilty of falling into… Their excellent musicianship and stage presence showed a band that was comfortable with themselves and their music. |
