Artist History
A bunch of friends started a band it broke up. Out of this band two kids decided that they should stick together because they worked well together and recruited a third kid,,well wouldnt ya know it this kid worked well with them. Many member changes took place and probably more are gonna take place but the original three stay together and so does Crossgate (we will be around for a while) |

Press Reviews
Brand New Action Zine, issue 4 jfrash@uncg.edu CROSSGATE demo Now this is what I like to review. When I first got this home made cd in the mail, I was of course expecting the worst from the start. Once again I have been proven wrong by this unknown band from a yet unproven state. This five song demo incorporates sounds not unlike jesuit crossed with converge, yet not unoriginal in any sense. Their 5th song even strikes old memories of old cave in. Tortured vocals, personal lyrics, and swirling onslaughts of guitar frenzy makes this one of the best unsigned bands to date. The mixing on the demo is so so, with the vocals a little quiet at times and the cymbals a little too loud. I'll be the one laughing when I sell this demo on ebay for $100 when this band is huge though. This next review is a little olderFBI Zine, issue 2 fbizine@hotmail.com nick baxter, 15 west dayton hill rd, wallingford, ct 06492 Crossgate demo I saw these youngsters from Vermont play the Hanover House in Meredin, CT on October 23rd, and wasn't expecting much from an opening band. But honestly, these guys blew me away. The music was metal, and i mean metal with a capital 666. It was noisy, with insane time signatures and crazy rhythm changes, yet beautifully melodic. It reminded me of old Converge meets The Dillenger Escape Plan (two of my favorite bands I might add). It's always nice to see a band with a good stage (or floor . . . ) presence, and these boys were insane. Throwing guitars, screaming at the floor and/or ceiling - I was thoroughly pleased. Also, their four song demo isn't as bad as they say it is, so pick it up if you see them. My only regret was that it doesn't come with a lyric sheet, but they were sincere enough to email us the lyrics. All in all, one of the most impressive new bands I've heard in a long time. Did I mention that the average age of the band members was 16?! (actually, after calculations, the average age was 17.2) |
