Artist History
Xhosa was formed in a cramped study room around september 1997. The room was so tight each guitarist had to sit on his amp to make room for the drums. In early 1998 the band picked up Josh, as a bassist to replace Matt, who decided to persue other interests. It was at this time that Xhosa orignally took on the name 'Men from Nantucket', but soon found that they began to receive too many death threats from the citizens of that small island off the coast of Boston. A few months later, the name Xhosa was chosen to represent the band and its raw, funk sound. A few more months went by and Xhosa found its first opportunity to record a demo in the small town of Pulaski, at Ate-Track Studios. This newly released demo has yet to catch the eye of any record executives, although many desparate attempts have been made. The band took an extended break for the first half of 1999. Now Xhosa is back and is planning on playing out wherever and whenever possible, so keep you eyes peeled. |
