    Artist History
Malevolently formed three years ago, UK based SPEEDWAY release their first single independently. The song is about the only topics they understand – football and violence. The resultant furor (local councils ban them from gigging) sets their budding career back years. Somehow, both Melody Maker and NME raved about the song calling it “viciously articulate” and “addictively twisted” (perhaps a more apt description of the thousands who came to their underground shows). With nowhere to go but up or the U.S., the band cashes the last of their dole checks and lucks into a gig at CBGB’s. Their frightening performance leads to producer Godfrey Diamond and then to a world-wide big bucks deal at Atlantic / Lava Records. In a move typical of the American music industry, SPEEDWAY is tossed by the major and lands on the door steps of SoCal Records. Banned from the English towns where they once played and with but a small rabid fan base, their future is in your hands.

    Press Reviews
"Viciously articulate...addictively twisted pop, drenched with the all-too-rare dynamism of bile. There's a tooled-up hedonistic vigour to them that sets them apart from most of their peers." Paul Mathur - Melody Maker
