    Artist History
Former members of the SF punk outfit The Lurkers.1994: Dave made his way to the coast from Chicago in a crappy pickup during the worst blizzard in Illinois history. With him were members of his band at the time, all of whom fled back to the midwest in short order.1996: Ward, a San Francisco native, finds Dave through an SF weekly ad that read simply,"Kill Bob Dole". They have been close friends and musical collaboraters ever since. 1996-98: Orange gigs relentessly up and down the California coast and develops a small but rabid underground fan base. Police are called in on 5 "documentable" occasions. Orange records a 5 song EP at BoLa De Studios in Marin County. Dave G leaves the master tapes in a cab while cruising SF in a gorilla suit. Two successive bass players have left the band under mysterious circumstances:1996: Charlie Miller takes up residence in the infamous Purple Onion in San Francisco's North Beach after a bizarre Orange gig and to this day refuses to leave the premises, where he headlines every thursday night.Spring, 1998: Dave G walks into a pawnshop on sixth street in San Francisco's SOMA district, attempting to add to his already unweildy collection of partially functioning basses. He was never seen again. Fall 1998: Orange records at Axtell Audio on Sixth street in SF, four blocks from the pawnshop where Dave G went missing. Recording is bogged down by Jon Axtell's relentless use of free base cocaine. Dave B plays bass tracks, reporting later that he heard Dave G's voice in the headphones muttering, "Word up, word up." No trace of the "voice" makes it onto the recording.1999: Orange moves to Los Angeles and releases its self titled debut on Fiery Midget Records. They vow never to return to The City By The Bay, complaining of yuppies and disturbing trends in rock club closure.
