    Press Reviews
Recorded at Trax East in New Jersey, "Override My Day" is certainly one of those hyper new-school records. You can assume safely enough that the fellas that make up this band were once straight edge hardcore kids that have "grown up" and followed the path to more rock in their music. However, Ex Number Five is actually a really good band. The songs they write are full of energy, making use of churning power chords and full-on muscle. The solid songwriting and production, while being very typical of this style of music with loud guitars, popping bass and thunderous drums, are brilliant and engaging. Alf Bartone's vocals tend to be a rough growl that still hit every note he’s searching for perfectly. File this sucker with later Samiam, Sensefield, and other new school visionaries. Probably the best part of this record is that there are only five songs on it, which keeps "Override My Day" from becoming boring and stale. Of course, Ex Number Five isn't blazing any trails. They play it safe and choose to rock out the best they can. However, Ex Number Five is believable. They do it well, and since I usually despise this sort of music, it really is a surprise. - Rocket-Fuel Online
