Artist description
Eggs@8:14 are about Spirituality. Not from a religious perspective - more from an individual point of view. Spirit, attitude, state-of-mind, emotional make-up, experiences from past and present that have come to form the person that you are.
The lyrics represent more of a personal perspective on life, a metaphorical journal. Songs that make you think - musically dynamic enough to carry a message, tell a story, to express an emotion (be it anger, sorrow, love, hate...) to captivate and enthrall, or sometimes just to rock! ( eggs @ 8:14 don't ALWAYS have to be serious!) That is where the name comes in. Ninety-eight percent of people asking about the band think the name has something to do with breakfast. At face value, the name is pretty wierd. But the real meaning behind our band name lies in something a little more thoughtful than breakfast. Now for a bit of a science lesson. Every year in March, there is an occurrence that takes place commonly known as the Vernal Equinox (Spring Solstice ). This is when there are exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. To further investigate this phenomenon, you would find a regular annual pattern of alignment between the earth, sun, and moon. There is a myth, similar to that of the ground hog, which suggests that at the exact time of the Vernal Equinox you can stand an egg up on end and it will not fall over. All you astrology wierdos and metaphysical freaks will probably dig that. On March 21st, 1995, the Vernal Equinox occurred at 8:14 a.m. I don't think anybody in the band actually tried to stand an egg on end, but the phrase "eggs @ 8:14" definitely made an impact. There have been many opinions expressed regarding the band name, and the one common thread is that it is different.

Press Reviews
"Just about everything that surrounds Eggs @ 8:14 is surreal, psychedelic, and mysterious: their CD cover, lyrics, music, looks, and the fact that they actually have a "band member" who is strictly in charge of "visual stimulation. Joe Stahlman provides a light show that has got to be seen to be believed, and it really sets Eggs @ 8:14 apart from the crowd. Lost is a cornucopia of psychedelic sounds and moods with some rough edges thrown in for good measure. They have an original sound that is dark and despondent, and at other times eccentric and enchanting. Basically, Eggs @ 8:14 can be compared to Alice in Wonderland meets The Cure..."
Mark Bruno, Showcase Music Magazine
Majestic, ethereal, and psychedelic are three words that the debut album from eggs @ 8:14 brings to mind as soon as the music of the first track starts to pour from the speakers of your stereo. A vast mixture of sounds and styles blend together into an eclectic hybrid musical form with many definite influences that I can't quite put my finger on. There is a certain similarity to Jefferson Airplane though, made most evident by their incredible cover of "White Rabbit" which I must admit is better than any version I've ever heard, including the original. Stacia Spencer's vocals and strings (violin and viola), Jerry Ray's mind-blowing guitar, Steve Quick's bass, and Dan Craig's beating of the drums is a must hear on CD and even more incredible live. Certainly music to trip to.

Contemplate a darker shade of St Louis' GALAXIA, or a medieval interpretation of Kansas City's MOLOTOV GRASSHOPPE, highlight it with Kashmir-sounding violin, and you might have a rough, blurry picture of this strangely-monikered band. From the epic sweeps of "Lost" to the wraithlike wails of "The Machine", the emanating soundscapes are as earthy as they are moody, trippy, and spacious. "Wooden Shoes" conjures spirits of Siamese Dream-era SMASHING PUMPKINS. This is music to accompany a pilgrimage across the Sahara
