Artist History
David "Dopey" Lopes got his start back in the thriving Providence, R.I. club scene that existed in the late 1980's. He was the principle songwriter for "Two Guys and Another Guy" one of the Providence Area's Seminal bands, influencing and affecting a slew of bands. His song "Life's Harsh Reality" is perhaps the most covered song ever by a local artist in the New England area!! Yet, still David Lopes thrives as a songwriter and performer now based out of New York City, and working under his assumed stage name of "Dopey Lopes". His 1998 release "Welcome to the Mental Stadium" met with excellent college radio airplay and he is following it up in 1999 with a breakthrough record to be called "Love Songs about Rock and Roll". Stay Tuned!!! |

Press Reviews
"...Lopes is nothing if not tenacious, writing every song as if it's his defining anthem and- occasionally coming up with one." The Providene Phoenix, June 12, 1998"... The EP has a self effacing endearing quality , and you have to give Lopes some props for never being a bandwagon-hopper- no mean feat in a fad-soaked genre." Michael Caito, The Providence Phoenix, June 12 1998 |
