Albatross was released in April of 1997, and has recieved airplay on Atlanta radio stations WKLS 96 Rock FM, WPUP Rock 103 FM, and WNNX 99X FM, bringing increased attention to the band. Press Reviews
Albatross is the debut release from the Gainsville, Georgia band Die-A-Tribe, a five member band with no shortage of technical skill and musical inventiveness. Consisting of Ginny Simmons on lead vocals, Ted Tuck on guitar, Jonathan Peek on bass, Todd Taylor on percussion and the recently added violinist Lesley Monroe, Die-A-Tribe has a unique sound reminiscent of the progressive rock Rush blended with Pop sensibilities of the Pretenders. The thirteen tracks on Albatross feature sophisticated arrangedments, some amazing percussion and the guitar prescence of Tuck, whose ultra-clean rhythm work sets the stage for several searing, overdriven solo passages. On "Foreshadow", Tuck cleanly arpeggiates verses and choruses, then suddenly puntuates the track with a fiery fill. the country feeling to "Huck Friend" also morphs without warning into an explosive guitar squall, then just as suddenly, returns listener to the hoe-down!--Guitar 9 Records
