Press Reviews
Atropos Magazine,
When talking about new progressive keyboardists,
it is too usual to fall in the topical mention
of EMERSON and WAKEMAN, the great all-time
classics. Being that in the 70's there were
other keyboard gods with the same prestige,
if not more, than the afore mentioned. In the
case of Californian BRIAN HIRSCH and his debut
album, "QUEST FOR TRUTH", references could be
made to the unavoidable blond wizard from YES,
but also (much more) to the most symphonic side
of VANGELIS in the 70's -another possible wizard
for the famous band!- A self-produced concept
work on similar grounds with "ALBEDO 0.39" or
"HEAVEN AND HELL", using the sophisticated
technology of nowadays. Melodic passages are
rich with grand crescendos, frequently punctuated
on the piano, growing in a pomposity (not dejective
at all!) of extraordinary results. Pure unadultered
symphonism. Glorious.
