Artist description
The Kickbacks are a band about songs - songs with a simultaneous delicacy and reckless passion that lyrically detail firsthand experiences or observations against gritty guitars, B-3 organ, and lived in vocals. "Americana", "Roots Rock", or "Twang Pop" are all possible genres that the music seems to fit.

Artist History
Over the past five years it's been an interesting trek for singer/songwriter/guitarist Tad Overbaugh, singer/songwriter/guitarist Shawn Byrne, and drummer Jon Burton, replete with plenty of twists and turns. The Kickbacks have released three independent CD's (1998's "Longitude", 2000's "Blue Man's Collar", and THE NEW 2002 RELEASE "BLINDSIDE VIEW"), played choice gigs at TT the Bear's Place (Cambridge, MA) and the Mercury Lounge (New York City), and had a song featured during an episode of "Dawsons Creek" ("Attic", from "Longitude"). With a newly solidified lineup featuring keyboardist/singer Steve Scott and bassist Matt Arnold, the new century brings the Kickbacks a newfound sense of promise and hopefully some of their best songs to date. Keep an eye out for them as they promote their new studio release, "Blindside View" at a club near you. |
