Artist description
World/Folk/Jazz/Acoustic/Reggae/Shamanic but defies categorization - a very original chakra-spinning mystical journey of the heart through very creative spaces, classic ballads (from great literature), old and new, the lush sound textures of exotic instruments with the warmth and freshness of Sudama's lyrical baritone (sounds like Cat Stevens/James Taylor but more worldbeat), with the tasty soprano sax playing of Sapphron Obois is painted onto palette of sizzling world percussion, sometimes ambient and tribal. Many styles, original lyrics from the heart, famous poetry, acoustic guitars, sitar, violin, piano, didjeridu, zither, fretless bass, tamboura, ocean and rainforest combine to blow your mind and deliver this music of the future. |

Artist History
World beat scene West Coast since 1995. Sudama and Dreamtime Continuum continue to enchant audiences with their magical music of such wide variety. Sudama learned to play the didjeridu in Australia, joined with members of the African percussion group Healing Fire and created Dreamtime Continuum. The band began giving concerts at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center where a fledgling alternative tribal/ acoustic rave worldbeat dance scene was emerging. With sarods, sitars, didjeridus, ragas, African dancing, meditation zone music, Dreamtime has created its own Southern California scene that is resonant with similar movements in the Bay Area and East Coast. Sudama's roots are folk/rock/African/Indian. He became acquainted with spirit improv/shamanic music performing with the group Magic Theater Company in Amherst , MA in the 1970's. Over thirty guest artists have performed with the group over the years. |

Press Reviews
From Singer Songwriters Station: "I cannot believe what I've just listened to in the past 2 and a half hours. Here is a couples of titles that passed in my head for doing this review by listening to all the songs of this artist. "Mozart is back", "The man who make the instruments singing", "The magicien", "The sorcerer", "Hypnose", "The first man on earth that have found 20 new music styles", and a lot more ... I have never been as confused as this to choose a song from the same artist ! All, and I said ALL his songs could have been include in this station. And there is 20 songs there. I was listening to the first and I said "ok, this one fit perfectly. It's wonderfull". Then I've listenned to the second and said "oh, wait a minute, maybe this one", then the 3rd, 4th, etc ... throu the last song, all were perfect. Each of his songs have their own style and are magic ! Sudama make his instruments singing, no kidding. I've said this in the past to rock guitarists that were making their guitars crying, etc ... But here, we are talking about sax, japenese flute, classic guitars, some kinds of drums !!!! and others instruments that I've never heard of. You listen to the song and you think that there is vocals, then you realize that this is instruments. Unbelievable ! I had no choice to break the rules of this station and include 2 of his songs. The song "El Nino", after this one is to show you one of the songs where the instruments are singing. This one "Seeonie Pack", is to show you that Sudama his a great singer-lyricist too. Sudama's voice make me think of "Cat Steven" a little sometimes. But you have to go to this artist page to listen to his other songs, you won't regret it. Put your headphones on and try each of the songs. I can tell you that you will be hypnotized by all the songs and you won't be able to push the stop button. Try "Mysterious visitor", headphones on, and you will be envouted. Really special song. I suspect this one to be a kind of "voudoo" song to steal our heart ! hehe. Just kidding, but try that song. It's a great experience that you have never tryed before (headphone on is important). The last song "White Seal's lullaby" will make my little 3 1/2 years old girl sleeping all nights. And probably me as well :) I don't know if you will feel these songs like I did tonight, but I really hope too because this is my best musical experience of life. You bet that I will return to this page to enjoy it again and that I will send all my friends there ! Sudama, you are a really special singer-songwriter. I like what you make at extreme !" |
